PP uniaixal geogrids for embankment in Fujian Province

This project involves building a B road from Pukou Town to Donghu in Lianjiang County, Fujian Province. The embankment has a slope of 1:1.5 and a road surface width of 17 meters. The filled embankment is 89 meters high. Parts of the road go through the beach, where the soil is very soft. This soil is saturated clay that is about 78 meters deep and highly compressible. The saturation level is around 60%, and the subgrade can support about 50 kPa.

Constructing a stable embankment in such soft soil is difficult and carries the risk of spreading. To strengthen the roadway, workers placed two layers of Etsong uniaxial geogrids over the weak subgrade.

After finishing the construction, it was important to improve the soil to avoid potential damage. The BOSTD geogrid system was used, and long-term observations show that the construction has not cracked or failed. The geogrids have helped reduce problems from the soft soil and have kept the structure stable, preventing displacement and uneven settling.
