"Wrap-around"reinforce soil stuctures

Wrap around geogrid design using uniaxial geogrids involves reinforcement of the soil fill and also returning the geogrid up the slope face to retain the fill. In the construction stage external temporary support or sandbags on the inside of the slope or geotextile-lined steel grid formers are needed to control and adjust the slope angle and to meet compaction requirements. The choice of slope angle can be made to suit project requirements. In fact, the face angle can be up to 90 degrees, Wrap around design also produces a flexible structure and surface vegetation is readily achieved in suitable climates or with irrigation.

 

 

 

Gabion Faced Reinforced Soil Retaining Wall

Gabions, constructed from E’GRID uniaxial and biaxial geogrid and other geosynthetics materials, can be filled with select stone, to create the facings for reinforced soil walls and slopes, particularly in river and coastal projects. Compared to traditional mass gabion structures, only one layer of gabion facing in front of a uniaxial geogrid reinforced soil structure is required. The reinforced soil portion will use low cost local fill materials giving high savings in construction cost and time. High strength connections between the gabion and the uniaxial geogrid ensures the stability of the structure. Vegetation can be established to protect the front face of the gabions and helps provide good scour resistance and protection from UV Light degradation.
